5 Candidates Vie for Two Seats on Coachella City Council
COACHELLA — The complexion of the City Council in this community, of roughly 42,000 people, will definitely change with the advent of the Nov. 3 election, but just how much remains to be seen.
There are five people vying for two seats. Each is a four-year term. One seat is being vacated by Stephanie Virgen. She chose not to run for a second term. The other seat is the one held by Frank Figeruoa and left vacant earlier this year when Figueroa was appointed mayor after Mayor Steven A. Hernandez resigned.
Juan Martinez was appointed to fill Figuero’s seat until the election. Martinez is one of the five people running for the full-time seat.
The others are Juan Martinez, Andrew Gallegos, Vicente Zamora, Amber De La Herran, and Yavonne Zapata.
