Desert Healthcare District Video Spotlights Community Outreach Through Mobile Medical Clinics

Since January 2023, the Desert Healthcare District & Foundation has frequently deployed a mobile medical clinic across desert communities to provide healthcare services to traditionally underserved and vulnerable residents. It now has two mobile clinics, with the second clinic adding a pharmacy and behavioral health counseling to the various screenings, vaccinations, and other services provided.

Both clinics are operated by Dr. Gemma Kim, Dr. Tae Kim, and their professional colleagues, physician residents, nursing students and other staff with DPMG Health — in coordination with Desert Healthcare District & Foundation Chief of Community Engagement Alejandro Espinoza, Program Assistant Sergio Rodriguez, and Program Support Specialist Belen Navarro.

“The mobile clinics are an essential component of our community outreach,” said Chris Christensen, Desert Healthcare District & Foundation CEO. “While hospitals and brick-and-mortar clinics continue to be a highly valued part of our healthcare system, not everyone can access them. Lack of transportation and other barriers can prevent access to care. We have found that delivering medical services to remote and underserved communities each week effectively removes many roadblocks. They’re not just the wave of the future; they’re the new reality.”
