The Gang Task Force operation was several weeks in the making

More than 20 people were cited and arrested at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, when the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force conducted a probation and parole compliance operation consisting of checks at various locations within the Eastern Coachella Valley.

The operation was several weeks in the making and was made possible through the participation of multiple agencies including Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force Regions 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7, FBI Desert Cities Safe Street Task Force, California Highway Patrol K-9 Team, Riverside County Sheriff Aviation, California Highway Patrol Aviation, East P.A.C.T., La Quinta Special Enforcement Team, Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team, Palm Desert Business District Team, Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team, Southern Coachella Valley Community Services District Team, Coachella Community Action Team, United States Border Patrol, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Investigative Services Unit, and Indio Police Department.

The following subjects were arrested during the operation and subsequently booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio:

  • Emilio Camaddo, 43 of Coachella for Violation of PRCS (Supervised Release)
  • Jose Luis Martinez Hernandez, 28 of Coachella for Violation of Parole
  • Jose Valencia, 45 of Coachella for Violation of Parole
  • Vicente Barajas, 26 of Coachella for Violation of Parole
  • Ricky Gonzales, 31 of Coachella for Violation of Parole
  • Jose Aguilar, 52 of Coachella for Violation of Parole
  • Doroteo Frederico Castro, 48 of Indio for Violation of PRCS (Supervised Release)
  • Michelle Laplante, 38 of Palm Springs for Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales
  • Jajuan Naeke Martin, 40 of Indio for Felon in Possession of Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and Violation of Probation
  • Armando Castro, 29 of Coachella for 4 Outstanding Arrest Warrants for Domestic Violence, Violation of a Court Order, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Vandalism
  • Gilbert Ramos Preciado, 52 of Coachella for 4 Outstanding Arrest Warrants for Violation of a Court Order, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Twice), and Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Daniel Ramirez, 56 of Coachella for 3 Outstanding Arrest Warrants for Possession of Controlled Substance (Twice) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Raul Barraza, 25 of Coachella for Violation of Parole
  • Miguel Villanueva, 40 of Indio for Possession of Methamphetamine and Violation of Probation
  • Raymundo Montiel, 42 of Cathedral City for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Ruben Flores Jr., 33 of Indio for Violation of Court Order
  • Robert Cabrera, 31 of Indio for Violation of Probation
  • Miguel Villanueva, 40 of Indio for Violation of PRCS (Supervised Release)

Also cited and released during the operation were:

  • Steven Venegas, 20 of Indio for Possession of Controlled Substance
  • Aldo Lopez, 44 of Coachella for Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Alfred William Smith, 59 of Coachella for Possession of Methamphetamine
  • During the operation 2 illegally possessed 9mm handguns were located.
