Hundreds of Backpacks Delivered to CCPOA

Chance Initiative on Tuesday delivered hundreds — 500 to be exact — of back packs to the Cathedral City Police Officers Association.

These back packs will be given to students throughout Cathedral City. The CCPOA will also have another 500 for a grand total of 1,000 backpacks for students filled with school supplies.

The CCPOA Has been collecting school supplies all month and will continue through July 28.

The following supplies are needed: pens, pencils, folders, notebooks, calculators, backpacks, scissors, glue sticks, paper, paperclips, rulers, paints, markers, crayons, highlighters, water bottles, hole punch, staplers, Kleenex, and lunch boxes. You can read all the details here.

All donations may be dropped off at the Cathedral City Police Station, 68700 Avenida Lalo, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Chance Initiative, founded by Rick Saldivar, is geared towards transforming lives one chance at a time. Chance offers transitional housing, community care needs and mentorship.

“We focus on making communities safer and better,” Saldivar told Uken Report.

The donation of hundreds of backpacks was made possible by Dantor Construction, Gigis Crepes and Waffles, Raul Padron Construction, Kingdom Kids Child Care, Lerma Cleaning Services and Durazo Family!

“We did it,” Saldivar said.

School supplies will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 3 at the Cathedral City Community Amphitheater. There will be water slides/water jumpers, music and ice cream.
