RANCHO MIRAGE — Phillip Moore was so incredibly impressed with the author of “The Shortest Way Home: One Mayor’s Challenge and a Model for America’s Future, that he wanted to know more — about Pete Buttigieg.

The book is an autobiography by Pete Buttigieg, 37m the mayor of South Bend, Ind. since 2012.

Once described by the Washington Post as “the most interesting mayor you’ve never heard of,” Pete Buttigieg is now a contender for the Oval Office. He is one of 10 candidates who will appear in a Democratic presidential debate on ABC on Thursday, Sept. 12. Click here for details.

Today, Moore and his husband, Burt Peachy, have launched a Facebook page to help get Pete Buttigieg elected the next leader of the Free World.  More than 650 people have “Liked” the page and the list continues to grow.

Until he read the book and started paying attention to what Mayor Pete was saying, Moore said he would never have dreamed of organizing for him.

“I’m usually the last one to get on the bandwagon,” Moore said. “He’s intelligent. He’s kind and caring. He listens to people. He does his homework. His message is consistent. He’s genuine and real and has detailed plans.”

The Palm Springs for Pete Buttigieg 2020 Facebook page follows the same Rules of the Road  the Democrat outlines earlier this year. In May, Pete Buttigieg released a pledge on  saying he will run his campaign by a set of 10 values.

The openly gay mayor pledged to operate his campaign in a way that incorporates respect, belonging, truth, teamwork, boldness, responsibility, substance, discipline, excellence and joy.

“People who have a desire to make a difference care,” Moor said. “He cares.”

Moore and Peachy will have an entry for Pete Buttigieg in the Palm Springs Gay Pride Parade and a booth. If you would like to help with the booth or walk with the contingent in the parade, email pspeteb@gmail.com.
