As of today, there are 9,896 registered voters in the city of Rancho Mirage, according to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters. That’s 10 more than last reported in December. As Katherine “Kate” Spates works to get out the vote in the April election, that number is likely to rise even higher.
Spates, one of six candidates on the all-mail general election ballot, is making a concerted effort to get all eligible voters registered in time to vote. She is actively promoting voter registration via her Facebook page, has a voter registration link on her website and has voter registration cards available at all of her meet-and-greet events. She also has iPads available at all her events for immediate online registration.
If other candidates are doing anything to get out the vote, it is not being done in such an aggressive and high-profile manner. Spates is a machine. Do not underestimate her, her drive, and her determination. Spates, a highly successful businesswoman, is also flanked with a massive support team who believes in her and is working on her behalf.
In the April 2016 Rancho Mirage city election, there were 9, 109 votes cast, according to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters. In addition to electing members to the City Council, there were also four measures on the ballot. This time around, there is only the question of who will fill three seats on the City Council.
The last day to register to vote or transfer registration for the April 10, 2018 election is March 26, 2018.
